Cardiff Blues fly-half Steve Shingler has moved to French ProD2 side Stade Montois, better known to us as Mont-de-Marsan, until the end of the season having been released from his contract.
The 27-year-old will cover for the injured French international Remi Tales and Romain Cabannes, with the team in sixth place, the final play-off place, with seven games of the season to go.
Shingler will be available for Mont-de-Marsan’s next game when they play host to Bayonne next Thursday night.
His contract was due to run out at the end of the season anyway, and it has been agreed he can leave early to pursue the opportunity of playing regular first team rugby for the next two months.
The former Wales U20 international currently has 60 Cardiff Blues appearances to his name after joining from Scarlets in the summer of 2016, scoring 301 points and sitting eighth on the post-2003 points scorers list. He last appeared in the win over Connacht at the end of January.
