Cardiff Blues have announced the departures of six additional players at the end of their contracts this summer.

It takes the total number of players leaving the club at the end of the season to 13, as well as Gethin Jenkins, who retired in November, and Steven Shingler, who cut his contract short for a stint in France before signing with Ealing Trailfinders.

Sion Bennett leads the list of newly announced departures, with 16 appearances since arriving part way through the 2016/17 season as back row injury cover from Northampton Saints.

Another with a handful of first team appearances is scrum-half Dane Blacker, who most recently came off the bench against Saracens in December, as well as featuring in the Pro14 on loan at Dragons. He is expected to sign with Scarlets.

Elsewhere fly-half Ben Jones is released after failing to kick on from winning academy player of the year in 2016/17, while centre Cameron Lewis leaves having spent much of the last 18 months with the Wales Sevens squad.

Academy wingers George Thomas and Corey Howells both depart having not troubled the first team, instead playing for Cardiff University and Pontypridd, respectively.

They join Gareth Anscombe (Ospreys), George Earle (Colomiers), Matthew Rees (retired), Jack Roberts (Doncaster), Blaine Scully (unattached), Tom Williams (Jersey) and Rhys Carre (Saracens) in leaving the Arms Park this summer.
