Cardiff Athletic Club have issued a statement confirming that the outstanding rent has been paid to them by Cardiff Blues Limited.

The statement reads, “We are pleased to announce that Cardiff Blues have paid all of the outstanding rent and ancillary charges due to Cardiff Athletic Club.

“Cardiff Athletic Club looks forward to working with Cardiff Blues to improve facilities at Cardiff Arms Park and to enable them to become the success we all aspire towards.”

This follows CAC making a statutory demand for payment of outstanding debt, believed to have been between £150,000-200,000, with non-payment in 21 days potentially resulting in a winding up order being issued.

However, that threat has now been averted, and CAC and Cardiff Blues Ltd can move forward to hopefully deliver a new Cardiff Arms Park. At the AGM back in February, the Athletic Club confirmed property agent Savills had been appointed to deal with potential developers.

Plans are expected to be revealed to members in the coming months, with Cardiff Blues and the Welsh Rugby Union having been asked for their wishlist when it comes to a new stadium.
