Cardiff Blues A suffered a third defeat on the bounce as they went down to Connacht Eagles at the Arms Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Irish side opened the scoring through Conor Hayes, with Luke Carty converting, before home captain Alun Lawrence hit back with a close range score.

However, two quick tries before half-time from Connacht, thanks to Diarmuid Kilgannen and Shane Jennings, gave the visitors a 16-point lead heading in at the break.

Carty himself grabbed the bonus point score early in the second half, before Peter Sullivan put the game beyond doubt for the away side.

Cardiff Blues prop Francis Lewis managed to score a consolation for the hosts, but Joshua Dunne managed to power over for a late try, leaving the final score showing 12-42.

A tough defeat for Gethin Jenkins and T Rhys Thomas’ men, who bring the Celtic Cup campaign to a close this Friday against Scarlets A at the Arms Park. Entry is included in season memberships.
